S.A. 800 A Saddle Assembly

On page 23 figure 18 of “Neracar Motoring on two wheels and list of spare parts” it can be seen that the Saddle Assembly S.A. 800 A is at the rear side fixed to the saddle support. It cannot be unlatched like with the Model B.
It has been confirmed by looking at Model A with Frame # 2217 that indeed,  a Model A's saddle cannot be folded back. It can be lifted up a bit, just sufficient to fill the tank. This fact was also supported by the complex notched lock plates the saddle was fitted with.

The two main springs are different; one is a RH spring and the other one a LH. This is probably done to compensate for one sided twisting. When stretched, the springs will have the tendency to twist in opposite directions, leading to the saddle to go straight up and down.

The two Lock Plates are hooked up behind the Support, Saddle, to enable the saddle deck to be stretched by using the screw under the saddle’s ‘nose’. This position  is locked by the two bolts and nuts right behind this screw under the saddle.
