324-Front Axle Assy

Remarks:
Some remarkable things, which I noticed,  are amongst others:

  1. 317-Lock Nut Outer, Front Axle at the RH side is identical to the one on the LH side. Both have RH thread! The stamped characters “R” on the RH one and “L” on the LH one seem to have no meaning. Drawing 300-Wheels Assembly lists a quantity of 2 for Part 317-Lock Nut Outer, Front Axle and this is consistent with what I found on my bike.
  2. 315-Axle Bearing, Front has metric dimensions.

The Front Axle Assembly consists of  324-Front Axle, which runs through 322-Swivel.
326-Swivel Pin Front Axle
is fitted in 322-Swivel;  325-Washer, Swivel and Front Axle  is fitted around the lower part of 326-Swivel Pin Front Axle to compensate for the clearance between 324-Front Axle and 322-Swivel. It is provided with small grooves to adhere grease. NB: On the photograph Front Axle Components #1, the position of 325-Washer, Swivel and Front Axle  is incorrect!
On 322-Swivel,  315-Axle Bearing, Front is pressed and locked by 316-Lock Nut Inner, Front Axle.  316-Lock Nut Inner, Front Axle is locked by 364-Lock Screw, Lock Nuts.

The assembled 324-Front Axle, 322-Swivel, 315-Axle Bearing, Front, 326-Swivel Pin Front Axle, 325-Washer, Swivel and Front Axle   and 316-Lock Nut Inner, Front Axle, are locked up at the RH side with 317-Lock Nut, Outer, Front Axle and at the LH side with the LH 317-Lock Nut, Outer, Front Axle , which is identical. Both nuts have RH thread and are locked by means of  364-Lock Screw, Lock Nuts

All three 324-Lock Screw, Lock Nuts are screwed into a Lock Nut, squeezing the LH and RH side of the slid together resulting in locking the thread. This squeezing takes place because only the part of the screw hole opposite to the head of 364-Lock Screw, Lock Nuts is threaded.
