Frame and engine number
The first of the 1934 Nimbus model C series had the frame and engine number 1301, hence, the first series of 250 units had serial numbers 1301 – 1550.

The numbers 1301 – 1500 were produced in 1934, whereas the numbers 1501 – 1550 were produced between January and April 1935 and are not considered to be true 1934 models, even though they could hardly be distinguished from the earlier 1934 models.
Although the first series was planned to be 250 units, it didn’t mean that they were identical. There are said to be a number of changes during production. There may have been several changes around serial number 1400, as will be explained below.
The engine number is stamped into the engine’s left side flange, just below the carburettor. The earliest engines have “Nr.” stamped before the serial number. The 1934 engine block does not have the raised flange section for the engine number that later engines had. The flange around the number was often flattened by filing.
The frame number is stamped on a round brass name and number shield, which is mounted on the frame, behind the petrol tank. The first shields showed a weight of 170 kg., which was later corrected to 175 kg by over stamping it with the number 5.
